East Village

East Village occupies the West Town blocks bounded roughly by Division, Chicago, Damen, and Ashland — quieter than Wicker Park to its north but sharing its transit and dining orbit. Eckhart Park's fieldhouse and pool anchor the southeast corner, Division Street's restaurant row forms the northern border, and the neighborhood's interior is residential street after residential street of brick three-flats under mature trees.

Homes for sale in East Village center on the condo stock inside those same three-flats — newer-construction buildings with one unit per floor are the premium format — plus a steady trickle of single-family homes and full multi-unit buildings. Owner-occupants buying a three-flat and renting two units remains the neighborhood's signature wealth-building play, and well-renovated buildings on the named streets rarely sit long.
