Millennium Park

Millennium Park is the 24-acre showpiece at the Loop's northeast corner — Cloud Gate, the Pritzker Pavilion's summer concert calendar, Lurie Garden, and the bridge over to Maggie Daley Park's climbing walls and ice ribbon. The residential neighborhood around it splits between the Historic Michigan Boulevard District's converted office towers and Lakeshore East, the master-planned pocket of glass high-rises wrapped around a six-acre private park down at the river's edge.

Apartments for rent near Millennium Park are high-rise almost by definition: newer towers in Lakeshore East — Aqua among them — with pools, sundecks, and unobstructed lake views, and loft-style rentals inside the landmark Michigan Avenue street wall. Renters here are buying proximity: four CTA lines within three blocks, the Cultural Center across the street, and the lakefront trail down the Randolph Street stairs.

Homes for sale around the park concentrate in Lakeshore East condominiums and the vintage conversions along Michigan Avenue, where unit sizes run larger than the newer glass stock. Views — park, lake, or river — drive pricing more than square footage here, and east-facing tiers in the same building can carry six-figure premiums over their west-facing twins.
