Where should your people live?

Type the office address. See the nine nearest neighborhoods with what renting there costs, how fast homes go and the weekday commute, then take it away as a brief with your company’s name on it.

How it works

Our numbers, real commutes.

Where do the rents come from?

The Abode Rent Index: median rents of homes that actually leased, MLS-listed rentals and managed apartment communities, published monthly by neighborhood. Each neighborhood in the results links to its own Rent Index page.

How are commute times worked out?

From the middle of each neighborhood to the office, leaving at 8:30 on a weekday morning, by car in typical traffic and by public transit, using Google Maps. An employee’s own door-to-desk time depends on the building; we map that for each home on their shortlist.

Why these nine neighborhoods?

They are the nine closest to the office that had enough leases last month to publish a reliable median rent. Distance isn’t everything: a neighborhood one stop further down a train line can be the better commute, which is why we show both.

What is the brief?

A short document with your company’s name on it: these neighborhoods and commutes, what renting in the city costs, and how a move runs with Abode. Pass it to a new hire or your leadership. Making one also lets your relocation contact follow up with you.
